Roller and spray painting techniques

Both roller and spray paintings need a professional painter to do painting. If an unskilled painter is employed on the job, the painting work may spoil and result in patchy work on walls. Before you start doing roller painting, roller and container should be cleaned. The contents of the paint should be mixed thoroughly. Now dip the roller into mixed paint and run it from top to bottom. Again dip the roller and run it adjacent to the painted area above in the same way. Run the roller without dipping it into paint horizontally and vertically on the applied paint coat to spread it uniformly.

Spray painting requires skill to hold spray gun properly and to prepare the mixture of the paint. Before starting painting work, the surface, spray machine and container should be cleaned. Spray painting should be done only when dry condition prevails. To do spray painting hold spray gun perpendicular to the surface and pass over the surface in a uniform sweeping motion. To achieve best results, try different air pressure and fan adjustment.

Make sure the use of primer on painting new surfaces. Quality and make of the paint should be verified.

There should be a uniformity of thickness for application of each coat of paint. Observe painted surface for paint drops, brush marks, waves and for variation in color, texture and finish. Hard to reach places such as edges, corners, gaps, cracks are checked well. The paint fallen on floors and walls etc. is completely cleaned and glass panes are spotless.

Finishing of Paint

Painting work is imperfect till it shows uneven and inconsistent finishing. A good work requires consistent and flawless painted surface. A flat finishing for interior walls provides non reflective and rich finishing. It’s also great at hiding irregularities and surface imperfections. Getting Desired Color Effects

The color speaks of its effects on the surface which it’s applied on. You can achieve a preferred shade of the color you want in your room. For soothing effect, a combination of sage green with some light sky blues and lavenders go quite well. A combination of white with bright red, yellow, blue and orange accents will energize the place.

Make use of warmer colors like yellow and orange that make a nice color combination or you can tone it a bit by using brown for a variety. Deep jewel tones create a romantic mood whereas gray and brown can be fine color combination. Opt for whites as these can match very well with some darker, rich colors like pink, maroon, or gold for a more elegant bedroom. Make use of deep colors instead of light that can give the room a warm and cozy feel. Let’s know more color effects of the paint.

Application of Varnish on Surfaces

Varnish makes the surfaces glowing and prevents them against worse weather, heat and cold. It is mainly used to polish wood surfaces. The application of varnish needs careful consideration. Two or three coats of clear varnish should be applied for durable finish. The next coat should be allowed when previous coat becomes dry. The varnish should be applied with full brush and be spread evenly with short light strokes.

If the work is vertical, the varnish should be crossed and re-crossed and then laid off lightly. It should be completed with upward brushing so that varnish could set, flow down and eliminate brush marks. If the surface is horizontal, the varnish is worked in every direction with light quick strokes. Thus varnish work should give visual appeal for painting work.

Uses of Cement Paint

Cement paint is most suitable for worse environments and is specially designed for better brushing ability. It’s applied on external walls/surfaces of the house. It gives the best results on newly concrete surface. The surface should be cleaned of all mortar dropping, dirt, dust, grease and other foreign matter before the application of the paint.

A coat of waterproof cement paint should be applied over patches after wetting the surface completely. The paint should be used within an hour after mixing otherwise the mixture would be set and thicken which affect the flow and finishing. The cement or concrete surface should be wet thoroughly to provide moisture to aid in proper curing of the paint before the application. Here more aspects to know about the paint.
